Today we went to Duke. The news sucked. The area of concern has grown which means it is cancer growth, so we have to switch up our plan of attack a little bit. As if that news wasn’t hard enough to take, we were also told it is in a more difficult spot, so going in and removing it is not an option. We have known all along that this type of cancer is very aggressive and difficult to treat. Mike was taken off of the clinical trial and a new treatment will be started next week. He will be on a more aggressive chemo for 21 days at a time with a 7 day break in between. They will continue Avastin. At the end of August he will have another MRI to see if this treatment is working. If not, the doctor at Duke already has a plan B of another type of chemo.
